Editorial Policy

Last updated: 2026

This page describes how RoamVisa researches, writes, edits, and updates the articles you read on https://roamvisa.com. It exists so you know what to trust – and what to hold us to.

1. Our mission

To help travelers make confident, well-informed decisions about visas, insurance, and international travel – with content that is accurate, plain-English, and independent of commercial pressure.

2. How we research

Every article on RoamVisa is built from a mix of:

  • Primary sources – official embassy and consulate websites, government immigration portals, published policy documents from insurance providers, airline and hotel official pages, and government tourism boards.
  • Reputable secondary sources – Which?, Defaqto, Consumer Reports, Association of British Insurers, and other independent consumer bodies.
  • First-hand experience – where an author has personally travelled the route, applied for the visa, or purchased the product, we say so.

We do not publish factual claims about visa rules, prices, or insurance terms without citing or verifying them against a primary source.

3. How we write

  • Articles are written by human writers. Where AI tools are used to assist with outlining or drafting, the output is fact-checked and rewritten by a human editor before publication. We do not publish unedited AI text.
  • Every article aims to answer the specific question the reader is asking, first and directly – not after a long preamble.
  • We label opinion as opinion.

4. How we edit and fact-check

Before publication, each article is checked for:

  1. Factual accuracy – every rule, price, and date is verified against a primary source.
  2. Currency – the article reflects the rules in force at the time of publication.
  3. Clarity – jargon is defined or replaced.
  4. Bias – commercial links do not shape the recommendation.
  5. Sources – external links are live and point to the authoritative source, not to an intermediary.

5. Updates and corrections

Travel rules change. When they do:

  • We revisit the article, update the affected sections, and change the “Last updated” date.
  • Material changes (for example, a new visa fee or a withdrawn insurance plan) are noted at the top of the article.
  • If you spot an error, email roamvisa@gmail.com with the URL and the correction. We aim to review reported errors within 5 business days.

6. Editorial independence

  • Advertisers, affiliate partners, and third parties do not receive advance review of articles.
  • Coverage is not for sale. We do not accept payment or free products in exchange for a positive review.
  • If we receive a complimentary product or service to review, we will disclose it in the article.
  • Our recommendations are based on what we believe is best for the reader, not on commission rates.

See our Affiliate Disclosure for detail on how commercial links work on the Site.

7. Sponsored content and advertising

  • Any sponsored content will be clearly labeled as “Sponsored”, “Paid partnership”, or similar at the top of the article.
  • Display ads (including Google AdSense) are visually distinct from editorial content and clearly marked as advertising.
  • We reserve the right to reject any sponsorship that conflicts with reader interests.

8. User comments and community

  • Comments are moderated. We remove spam, personal attacks, and unlawful content.
  • We do not remove comments simply because they disagree with us.
  • Comments are opinions of individual readers, not RoamVisa.

9. Complaints and right of reply

If you are the subject of an article (for example, an insurance provider or a travel operator) and believe the coverage is inaccurate or unfair:

  • Email roamvisa@gmail.com with the URL and a clear statement of what you believe is wrong.
  • We will review promptly and, if appropriate, correct the article, add a right-of-reply, or take it down.
